Live-birth abortions continue at Christ Hospital

OAK LAWN, ILLINOIS, April 21, 2000 (WT)--City News USA has learned live-birth abortions continue at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn despite growing public outcry. Sources have told City News USA that as many as four live-birth abortions have taken place at Christ Hospital this year.

The Oak Lawn facility has come under criticism for the use of an abortion method which sometimes results in the birth of a live baby that is then left to die without any medical assistance or intervention.

Christ Hospital is a member of the Advocate Health Care System which controls seven other hospitals in the Chicagoland area.

Illinois Attorney General, Jim Ryan, launched an investigation into Christ Hospital's abortion policy. The facility was found to be in violation of some medical guidelines concerning its procedures.

Some of the babies aborted this year by the live-birth abortion method lived for two to three hours before eventually dying.

Critics of Christ Hospital have conducted numerous prayer vigils in front of the facility in an attempt to call attention to what they say is near infanticide. Christ Hospital admits it does use the controversial technique. City News USA has also reported that at least two other Advocate owned hospitals have employed the live-birth abortion method. Currently, a number of states are considering legislation banning this type of abortion.

Editor's note: WebToday believes that the live-birth abortions are illegal and not "protected" by Roe v Wade and we encourage all readers to find a pro-life attorney to sue Christ Hospital and work toward bringing this case as a test case before the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade.
