The U.S. "Injustice" Department

I recall as a child viewing the images of a TV superhero devoted to "truth, justice and the American way."

I suspect that’s where the youthful, naïve idealism was built into this formerly trusting soul.

I wish to God I could recapture that innocence.

But there’ve been too many Vietnams, Ruby Ridges, Menas, Wacos and Oklahoma Citys in our national history. The cries of the innocent victims won’t let me close my eyes and go back to sleep.

One of the hardest issues for me to deal with is the corruption that ate its way like a cancer through the FBI and the "so-called" Justice Department, especially during the Clinton administration.

After the 1995 bombing at the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, the alternative media and talk radio fed us many details that the government establishment thugs and their slugs in the mainstream media obviously wanted us to ignore.

Reports of a second bomb blast, brought forward by retired Air Force Brigadier General Benton Partin and corroborated by the seismology department at the University of Oklahoma were swept under the rug.

Initial claims of John Does number two and three, spotted with McVeigh during the days, hours and minutes leading up to the fatal blast were briefly reported…then they simply went away when the FBI waved its magic wand.

A Middle East connection to the bombing immediately surfaced but was also quickly hushed up.

Now, all of these early rumors are being substantiated in a report about to be released this week by former Oklahoma State Representative Charles Key, who formed a citizens grand jury that investigated the Murrah building blast. We have been provided with an advance copy of that report.

The release of the Key Committee findings, coupled with the so-called discovery of thousands of pages of documents hidden by the FBI for the past six years and never shared with defense lawyers for bombing convict Timothy McVeigh has proven to be a powerful one-two sucker punch.

And once again, the American people have proven to be the suckers.

We were told that McVeigh and Nichols acted alone.

We were told right wing fanatics and militia members were solely responsible for the attack.

We were told the government did not know about the bombing plans in advance.

And too many of us believed them.

Now, let’s look at the new "official line" coming from FBI headquarters. They want us to believe that an agent with 28 years of service to the bureau, who had conducted over 150 bombing investigations could simply lose track of the motherload of Oklahoma City documents.

We’re asked to believe that these and other papers being found as I speak were not shared with the McVeigh defense team, totally by accident. And, of course, if they had been properly shared with the McVeigh defense as required by federal law, none of those findings would have had an impact on the outcome of his trial.

How stupid do they think we are?

The truth is the release of these papers has already delayed the execution of McVeigh for at least one month and probably indefinitely. Whether McVeigh, who I personally believe is as guilty as sin, will earn a new trial as a result of this cosmic cover-up remains to be seen. And the families of those who perished in the blast have had their lives and emotions jerked around again, unnecessarily by a government that just doesn’t care.

Frankly, I’m surprised FBI Senior Agent Danny Defenbaugh came forward with the allegedly lost documents before McVeigh’s execution. These kinds of cover-ups usually surface 20 to 30 years after the fact, so historians can sift through the refuse and rewrite the national record. 38 years after the Kennedy assassination, we still don’t know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help us God.

The larger question in all this is why is the Justice Department afraid? There were said to be anywhere from 6 to 10 video cameras operating in the area of the Murrah Building on the morning of April 19, 1995 at the moment the bomb went off. Why have authorities refused all requests to review videotape from those cameras? Why did the FBI not identify the 900 to 1000 fingerprints found in areas where McVeigh was spotted leading up to the explosion, as the Key report maintains? Why must we be kept in the dark?

The Justice Department and the FBI are supposed to serve the truth and dispense justice. Isn’t that the American way?
