Who Knew What...When?

They say every picture tells a story.

The pictures we all saw on September 11^th told a horror story. One massive skyscraper is already ablaze when a second jet creeps onto our TV screens. A moment later, the twin tower erupts in a fireball…and, yes, two demonic faces are clearly seen emerging through the smoke and flames.

The rubble was still smoking and our collective eyeballs were still red from weeping when the conspiracy theories started creeping into the collective consciousness. Of course, while America was in shock, it was highly unpopular to give them serious consideration, much less, credence.

Honestly, some of the wild stories were fairly easy to discard. It was the Islamic press that quickly began blaming Israel for the attack, despite a wealth of evidence pointing in the direction of Osama bin Laden and his Islamic suicide operatives. Rumors began circulating that thousands of Israelis employed at the World Trade Center did not show up for work on the day of the attacks.

Those claims were also quickly exposed as groundless.

But some charges are not so easily dismissed.

Within a few weeks of the tragedy, we were directed to the website of an online news site from India. The story had been posted last June, a full three months before the 9-11 attacks. It revealed that the United States and Russia were planning joint military action against the Taliban because of that group’s refusal to limit the activities of Islamic terrorists.

However, word also leaked out that the U.S. and Russia wanted oil and gas pipelines built through Afghanistan to carry fossil fuels from the former southern Russian republics to market. We heard the report that a U.S. official had offered the Taliban a carpet of oil or a carpet of bombs.

Now, a reliable source within the Christian intelligence community, Dr. Stanley Monteith, has come forward with a list of additional charges that deserve at least a hearing.

We received a press release last week that reads as follows.

DR. STANLEY MONTEITH BELIEVES SOME OFFICIALS HAD FOREKNOWLEDGE OF THE 9/11 ATTACK, AND DID NOTHING TO PREVENT IT. HE CHRONICLES THE EVENTS THAT LED UP TO THE TRAGEDY IN HIS VIDEO, "THE WAR IN ARABIA."

DID YOU KNOW THE FCC CONTACTED SALMAN RUSHDIE'S PUBLISHER ON SEPTEMBER 3, AND TOLD THEM RUSHDIE SHOULDN'T FLY ON AMERICAN OR CANADIAN COMMERCIAL AIRLINES UNLESS SPECIAL SECURITY MEASURES WERE TAKEN?

DID YOU KNOW THE MAYOR OF SAN FRANCISCO WAS CONTACTED 8 HOURS BEFORE THE ATTACK AND WARNED OF THE DANGER OF FLYING THE NEXT DAY?

DID YOU KNOW THE PRESIDENT OF THE BUNDESBANK SAID THE OPTIONS MARKET WAS MANIPULATED BY INVESTORS WITH ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF THE ATTACK?

DID YOU KNOW THAT KENNETH TIMMERMAN WROTE AN ARTICLE ABOUT AN IRANIAN INTELLIGENCE OFFICER WHO CONTACTED THE FBI IN EARLY SEPTEMBER AND WARNED THEM ABOUT THE TERRORIST PLAN TO HIJACK OUR AIRLINERS, AND CRASH THEM INTO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER (INSIGHT MAGAZINE, DECEMBER 3).

DID YOU KNOW THAT PLANNING FOR THE OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY BEGAN IN 1997?

Having appeared once as a guest on Dr. Monteith’s show, myself, I can tell you that the good doctor is thorough in his research and careful to obtain documentation before airing controversial materials.

Let’s be careful to clarify that the charges are of prior knowledge and not complicity in the attack. However, if these claims do have merit, one must ask why airport security in Boston and Washington was such a failure that day? Also, why were New York fire department personnel involved in making a training film that morning in the vicinity of the World Trade Center? Were they assigned to the vicinity "just in case?" Could that provide evidence that word of the impending disaster had filtered down to street level?

So many questions. Let’s hope we can find some truthful answers….and soon.
