Life and
Death Matters
Any sailor who ever tried crossing the ocean without a
compass will be happy to tell you that he made a mistake, assuming he lives
to tell about it.
Today, our world is drifting without a moral compass,
unclear what direction to follow on the most basic of human issues…those
pertaining to life and death.
The Bible tells us that God put life and death before mankind and then urged
us to choose life.
Consider some of the "life and death" issues now
confronting us. Helpless children are put to death so that their "stem
cells" can be used to bring life to those with medical ailments.
An abortionist in upstate New York who killed countless
children in the womb is, himself, cut down by gunfire. The man believed to
be his killer is captured in Europe but his extradition to the United States
is delayed. Europe opposes the U.S. death penalty and wants America to
promise that the killer of the baby killer will not be killed.
A Chinese doctor admits to harvesting the organs of executed
convicts, which are then sold for thousands of dollars to individuals in the
West needing transplants. In at least one case, organs are removed before
the convict is dead. Money dictates who lives and who dies.
China has recently indicated a willingness to relax its
stringent "one child" per family policy. The barbaric law limited
couples to one child and led to massive abortions and human sacrifice, as
parents preferring a son abandoned unwanted female babies. This inhuman rule
of death led to cases of cannibalism, where aborted children were literally
consumed by an uncaring populace.
In the Netherlands, euthanasia is legalized and homosexual
marriage may soon follow suit. These days, anything at all, it seems, is
preferable to the conception and preservation of human life and family life.
The impenetrable gray gloom of our values neutral world has
all but blinded us from recognizing evil and being able to separate light
from darkness.
So, what should be our reaction to the rule of uncertainty?
When it’s all been said and done, only that which pleases
the God of the Universe will stand. Wisdom tells us, "When you’re not
sure which direction to travel, check your compass."
Choose life.
