World Court a Bad Decision

By Dick O'Connor

Florida is critical.........but did you know our country is on trial before the World Court??

So today, Germany is prosecuting us before the World Court in The Hague, Netherlands, for executing two men of German background and citizenship who stabbed a bank official to death in a botched bank robbery in Tucson, Arizona. According to the Associated Press story, we are going to be judged by the 9-member court on our own system of jurisprudence. We will be defending ourselves in court, essentially granting legitimacy to the World Court. The outcome of this case is really not that important. The main focus of our attention should be on the fact that we are subverting our own laws to the opinion of a foreign body, allowing ourselves to be examined critically by foreign standards.

Is this what is required in order to be a member of the United Nations? That we sacrifice our system of law and justice to that of an international group of nations and be punished like a common criminal? For adjudicating a crime that was committed within our own borders? And this from a group of peoples we banded together with blood and suffering at the end of WW2? And the money we have spent to hold it together! It must be trillions of dollars (taxpayer dollars!). And the people we have committed to UN goals that we didn't really understand or accept as our own? Our Meals on Wheels program alone saps the strength of our military severely.

Was I asleep when we signed such a treaty? Like Rip van Wrinkle, we are waking up to the fact that we have created a Frankenstein monster by sacrificing our sovereignty to what we thought was a greater good. No vote or referendum was taken on this treaty, and it is obvious why not. Is this a part of globalization?

If any of us went to Turkey or (God forbid!), Iraq, we would be subject to the laws and penalties of those nations if we committed a crime within their borders. We must necessarily observe the laws of that nation that we visit. And when the nationals of those countries visit our shores, they must necessarily observe the laws of our country. A murder took place in Tucson. Two German nationals were convicted of the crime and executed years later after a long appeal process. The German government has abolished the death penalty. Now it looks as if they want to proselytize the entire globe to show us their goodness, understanding and social engineering skills. The rest of us who are still barbarians, believing in capital punishment, are considered primitive and are sometimes referred to as the Great Unwashed by such educated people as the present German Socialist regime. And then, there is the Holocaust.

We really don't need to defend ourselves in the World Court. To do so would only give credence to an incredible power grab. If this is what it means to belong to the United Nation, we have made a terrible mistake. Rip van Wrinkle is waking up! Get us out of this boondoggle outfit called the UN.
