Democrats Rewrite the Rules
By Dick O'Connor
We have never seen anything like this. A major political party trying to change the rules in the middle of the game. The electoral college is being vilified by the Democrats in an attempt to get the election results overturned. It goes without saying that if Mr. Bush had clearly won the popular vote and Mr. Gore had won the electoral college, we would have heard nothing but praise for the college! Is there something to be learned from this howling and street theater (ala Jessie Jackson) taking place in Palm Beach County, Fla.? Most definitely. We now know how low the liberals will stoop to try to hold on to power. There is nothing too low or evil for them, when they are really threatened. And that includes the disregard of our Constitution, the most sacred building block of our representative democracy. Never mind that it has served us well for 200 plus years. Never mind that numerous attempt have been made to adulterate the wishes of Washington, Madison, Jefferson et al, and that all such attempts have failed miserably. In fact. most efforts didn't even get started. The liberals can't believe they could be rejected. They want to change the rules in the middle of the game, just underlining their selfish desires. They will do anything, lie, cheat or steal to get their way. The facts are there for everybody to see. They are going to lose, and furthermore, they are going to lose a large number of their constituency due to their childish behavior in the present circumstance. You just cannot display such open thievery and chicanery to the American people without a reaction. Somebody should take them out and change their diapers. There is another, far more sinister villain to be reckoned with. Al Gore and Bill Daley, his campaign manager, can be forgiven at some point in the future for just wanting to win. But can we forgive the media for deliberately calling the Florida electoral votes for Gore, when they knew full well the polls had not closed in the Panhandle part which was primarily Bush territory? Can we forgive the media for sending thousands of registered voters away from voting booths after they were assured Florida was going for Gore? Are we just to accept the error as ignorance, when these people, of all our nation's trendsetters, are supposed to be the most sophisticated? Did they just ignore the fact that Florida was in two time zones? If they did just ignore the fact that the polls were still open in parts of Florida when they prophesized the Gore victory, shouldn't some punishment be meted out? Isn't this extremely premature prediction just an extension of the liberal bias of the media?
Do we, as consumers of news information, have a right to a non-biased media? Even if we accept the liberal bias, does the media have the right to influence our elections??? When did we give the liberal press permission to put its heavy thumb on our election scales??
