300,000 Aliens Deported by INS??
Sorry,
they're still here!!

888WebToday  December 13, 2001

In an article in the Washington Post dated Dec. 6, 2001, the statement is made that the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) has now enlisted the help of local police and the FBI to assist in catching 313,000 people who have disregarded their orders to leave this nation.  They were found guilty of crimes deserving deportation.  They were released in their own custody and told to go back to their country of origin.  They were not confined and forced to leave immediately.  They were advised of their right to appeal the verdict, and many have done so just to extend their time in this country.

If you or I wanted into this country bad enough to obtain a visa, and then ran afoul of the law or were suspected of being a terrorist, would we accept the order of the INS and hop the next plane back to Gaza?  Why would we obey the order of the INS?  What would be the consequences?  According to the Post article, nothing would happen.  Now the INS is admitting its' failure and asking for help.  (Lock the barn door, Maw.  The horse has been stolen!). Why wasn't this request for cooperation with local law enforcement a matter of policy from the start??

In a closely related AP article in the Tampa Tribune dated Dec. 9, 2001, reporter Brenden Farrington tells us that the State of Florida (local) is becoming very frustrated by the refusal of the INS to release the names of those aliens whose non-immigrant visas have expired.  The state wants to pick them up and question them for terrorism.  The INS is refusing, saying that the state has no right to question these illegals.  This is the same INS that has just requested cooperation from local police and the FBI!  How stupid can a bunch of bureaucrats be?  They (INS) are certainly not experts in Florida law.  They have no right to tell Florida Law Enforcement agencies what they can or cannot do in their day to day work.  And then to ask for cooperation?  Where is the Media to ask the hard questions here, and to point out this oxymoronic behavior of the INS ??

Did you know that convicted violators of law were just being told to leave, and nothing was being done to insure their departure?  This is an affront to American law and justice.   It is so serious that blame must be assigned.

If this practice of letting aliens remain free in their own custody is just a practice of the INS, then the entire department should be re-staffed.  If the INS is required to follow these destructive procedures due to laws enacted by Congress, the laws should be revoked without hesitation.  The laws should state that the alien should appear in INS court prepared in advance to leave the country, and, if found to be a deportee, he or she would be taken into custody, and not released until the plane leaves.  As it stands now, we must call on our police and FBI to do the finding of these people who should never have gotten away.   If this is a result of this and previous administrations, they should be held accountable by the voters.  After all, it borders on sabotage to let these aliens who have been found to be unfit remain here and possibly harm our nation.  Where, in the name of patriotism, is our common sense?  Where is the Media to ask the hard questions that are asked here??
