A Snow Job?? No, It's a Blizzard!!

By Dick O'Connor

United Nations environmental committee professors Aloysius P. Birdsong, Hermaphrodite S. Quark, and Cyril P. Treehugger have ridden to our rescue again! These selfless environmentalists have contributed to our alarm and worry over the 'greenhouse effect' of the internal combustion engine and the burning off fossil fuels. And please note, just in time to warn against voting for Mr. Bush and his 'risky' schemes. Never mind that the Associated Press (which ran the story prominently) doesn't seem to understand the difference between a true scientific study with peer review, methodology, database examination and the rest of the steps an authentic report must contain. It is enough for AP, Reuters, and several other media groups that somebody had made a 'study'. Whoop-de-doo! Its' a liberal report. Let’s run it on page one!

This is the same UN environmental group that in 1997 in Kyoto Japan, literally had a cow because we (the industrialized nations of the world) would not sign a treaty that would lower our standard of living at least 25% immediately if observed. At the same time, the nations of China and India would have been exempted from observing the same rules even though they are also polluters of the worst kind. This report also contains the remarkable statement that smoke and haze from industrial plants have a cooling effect on the atmosphere! C'mon, professors, which is it? Cold or hot? This entire outrageous scenario is compounded in infamy by the timing of its' release.

The environmentalists at the UN want to spoil Mr. Bush's chances of winning the presidency. It certainly adds ammunition to those who want us to leave the UN. These people will stoop to anything in order to propel their warped dogma into prominence. It is another example of liberals reacting to the possibility of defeat on Nov. 7th.

Equal Justice USA (Wow! What a moniker!) also tells us this week that 16 men were executed in an unspecified period of time despite "compelling evidence of their innocence" Naturally, four of these miscarriages of justice took place in Texas under the administration of Mr. Bush. What else would you expect? This truly unbiased (!) report also was released just in time for our election. Another example of liberals facing the possibility of defeat.

Also released for maximum effect on the election was a report from a "non-profit" group, carried by AP which (guess what!!??) also backs the stand of the environmentalists that the evil oil companies were responsible for the dramatic hike in gasoline prices in June, and certainly not the fault of regulations for reformulated gas. Our government and the Clinton-Gore administration is never wrong!!

The objectivity of the media is showing itself in the publication of stories of this nature which emphasize the liberal slant of the editors and reporters. They are published with great solemnity and we are supposed to absorb them and give the articles our gravest consideration. What we are really witnessing are the flakes of a coming snowstorm of reports which are guaranteed to reflect poorly on Mr. Bush. We will see more and more of them this week, reaching a climax on the last days before Nov.7th. It is the last desperate floundering of the liberals who are facing defeat.

Ladies and gentlemen, man your snow blowers!! A blizzard of skewed and biased material is on its' way to you this week, aided and abetted by our unbiased (?) media.
