So, the standoff in Idaho is over. Five children who
had been taught how to use guns holding off a cadre of sheriff's police,
social workers and other personnel belonging to an intrusive government that
"only wanted to help them". These same people had taken the
mother, JoAnn McGuickin against her will from her family,
charged her with child abuse, described her as a paranoid schizophrenic, and
placed her in jail without a bond hearing. A bond hearing would not
have helped the mother, because there was no money to make bond. The
father had been buried only a week before the mother was taken away.
The home the family lived in had been sold for back taxes. The new
owner wanted the family out.
The circumstances related above inspire sympathy. Deep sympathy.
Yet that emotion is not the purpose of this article. Instead, how
about anger? Anger at a local government (Bonner County) that put this
all together and forced the evacuation and breakup of the remaining family,
after the father died. Doesn't this scream Big Brother to you.? Isn't
this George Orwell's "1984" at its' worst? Who
diagnosed the mother as a paranoid schizophrenic? A social
worker? A sheriff's deputy? Who signed the complaint against the
mother for child abuse? A social worker? Was she taken before a
psychiatrist and given standard interview procedures before being so
described.? The Media does not say.
The children are now reunited in a foster home and have been described as
healthy and definitely not malnourished. The mother remains in jail
demanding to have the charges against her dripped and she be allowed to
contact her children. The County has not agreed to this.
Where does the county or any governing body, federal, state, or municipal
get the authority to abduct any citizen and remove them from
their family? This type of interference is exactly what our Constitution and
Bill of Rights forbids! Thank God the sheriff had enough common sense
to wait out the kids and avoid another Ruby Ridge, or Waco or ------.
Have we become so corrupt and Godless that we can strike
against a family with no tug at our conscience? Does our
Orwellian mentality allow us to condemn any type of morality or value that
is not politically correct (or filthy rich!). Is there no way to
correct this injustice?
Are we suspicious of our governmental (tax supported) bodies?
