When you listened to the Chicken
Little environmentalists and voted in all of the political bigwigs you now
have in power, you wrote your own misfortune. When the Prophets of Doom and
Global Warming told you that you would die from your contaminated water and
air, you shuddered in fear and voted the way they wanted you to vote. No
drilling, no offshore drilling, no logging, no new power plants, no peaker
plants, no drilling for natural gas, no nothing. You ordered from the
environmentalists menu; now you must eat it.
The only short term relief is price controls, and that means that the rest
of us would pay tax dollars to bail you out of your discomfort. Your
discomfort is of your own choosing, and why should the rest of us pay
because you listened to some environmental weirdoes' who have no idea of
what it takes to run a state (or country)? You have always prided yourselves
on being the leader in culture, showing the rest of us the way. Now you have
met the error of your environmental ways, and don't know what to do about it
except to cry 'foul'.
The state politicians have reversed course and are now building power plants
at a record pace, but they wont come online quickly enough to help you with
the heat of summer. Just remember when summer heat descends and you have no
light and no air conditioning who got you into this mess.
The rest of us are facing a crisis also. We will be paying high prices for
gasoline and natural gas. The nation has not built a new refinery in 25
years and we have lost at least one refinery (Clark) during that period.
There is nothing for us to do except to wait until supply catches up with
demand and to build some new refineries. Perhaps we should get the EPA to
relax the Clean Air Standards to allow the remaining refineries to produce
cheaper gasoline. And we must bring more oil into production through
drilling, both offshore and in our national parks The environmentalists won’t
like it, but they are the ones that got us into this.
In any case, we should not bail out California. They made their own bed,
listening to the weirdoes. It was an unfortunate decision, but they alone
made it. Don't ask the rest of us to pay for their unknowledgeable attention
to the environmentalists.
