What
can you say to accompany the national sigh of relief that comes collectively
from the people of America? What can you add to the heartfelt satisfaction
that we feel, knowing that our service men and women are
safe?--------Nothing! Nothing matters except that they are here.
And we came out of this debacle smelling like a rose. It has been so long
since we had a true leader that we have forgotten what it feels like to
swell with pride or to wipe away patriotic tears. Amid calls for retaliation
and other calls for capitulation, Bush held firm and methodically calmed the
waters. He gave great credit to Condeleeza Rice, his national security
adviser, for her efforts, but we must not forget that he recognized her
wisdom and placed her in that sensitive position.
This nation can now hold its' head up in the family of nations. Think how we
must have appeared to the rest of the world the past eight tears! Some of
the other nations must have likened us to the exhibit in the Brooklyn museum
of the Virgin Mary covered with elephant dung. That comparison cannot be
made today.
Thank you, Mr. President!-------We owe you!
