It's Getting Better
By Dick O'Connor
We have turned a corner. In less than a month of being in power, Bush has restored our nation to honor, respectability, and a new sense of moral stability. Just as Winter has begun to relax its icy death-grip on the throat of an awakening Spring, a fresh breeze has blown away the clouds of hedonism, mewling liberal false anguish, confounding moderates, and attracting many to follow the banner of righteousness.
From his refusal to desert Ashcroft to the bombing of Baghdad, he could not have done better for our country. There were no threats against his detractors. There was action, the action of a man, not a self-serving hedonist. His lack of response to the media ranting of the Clinton exit fiasco was classic. It was exactly the measured reaction to a spoiled brat who had a large number of friends (media) rooting for him, and was handled with few words and no threats. This nation has needed such a sea change in its conduct for eight years. The Flower Children have made their statement and left a terrible black stain on our land. The political battles yet to be won with Congress are ahead and will end with the liberals being drug, kicking and screaming to the Bush concept. It just doesn't seem possible that one man, faced with so many problems could turn the nation around so quickly. Our hearts can swell with pride without having to hide it. Tears of patriotism are acceptable. We are not ashamed to show our face in the family of nations. We can breathe deeper-----the air is cleaner. In less than a month? It's unbelievable! Even the liberal Democrats and so called 'moderate' Republicans are beginning to look better!!
