Liars and Ostriches
In everyday confrontations with everyday liars, do we throw out clichés, stick our heads
in the sand and hope for the best? We all have. But as we mature, we need to acquire
specific answers to specific lies. This requires more effort than vegetating in front of
the "tube."
Nevertheless, using the book of James as my premise, any REAL Christians will have a
NATURAL desire for the real truth, and that desire will actually overcome bad habits like
laziness.
There are great web sites run by great theologians who have already done the academic
research that is beyond most of us. Chuck Missler's www.Khouse.org
is a great one with articles to read, a blue-letter Bible with links to pertinent
commentaries, and even streaming audio, both current and archived, on most any topic
imaginable. John Loeffler's site, www.steelonsteel.com
and Stanley Monteith's www.radioliberty.com are
two others with a great selection of resources.
The site run by Larry Klayman at www.judicialwatch.org
keeps you up on what lawsuits are being filed against corrupt Washington politicians.
And of course news sites like 888WebToday, www.worldnetdaily.com
and www.newsmax.com provide daily updates on what's
really happening in the world.
Many things annoy me. But it really grieves me when I hear well meaning Christians use
either "red-neck" clichés or misquoted Bible verses, then naively take a stand
on Satan's side of the argument in total ignorance just because they believed what they
saw on TV or never researched an issue to know the truth. But some of us HAVE researched
the evidence. And the TRUTH is posted at the good, Christian-managed sites that I
recommend frequently in this article.
Popular misconceptions going around would have us believe the universe is billions of
years old, income tax is just paying unto Caesar and is the constitutional law of the
land, only criminals use "offshore" banks, Newt Ginrich, Trent Lott, G. W. Bush
and Arlen Spector are conservatives, John McCain is a patriot, America has always been a
democracy, the ACLU and a tramp named McCorby forced abortion on the US, TWA flight 800
blew up from spontaneous combustion in the main fuel tank, the US Drug program has reduced
the amount of drugs entering the country, separation of church and state is in the
constitution, an old woman named Madaline single-handedly took prayer out of our schools,
Franklin D. Roosevelt rescued America from the depression and was really surprised by the
Pearl Harbor invasion, Vince Foster committed suicide, Clinton feels your pain, or Hitler
only killed Jews in WWII. I hate to shock any of you, but the rock solid evidence,
available 24 hours on the net, shows otherwise to any of these claims. It took exhaustive
research by skilled historians, theologians, reporters and archeologists to refute the
many ideas the revisionists have so skillfully misled us into believing, but the evidence
is now posted out there for anyone with a desire to learn the truth.
An "America, Love it or Leave it" bumper sticker is not a ticket to heaven. You
have to read and accept John 3:16 for that. And that requires the effort to read and
understand it.
