Choosing Darkness Rather than Light

Never have I seen a more vivid expression of this Biblical phrase than what is happening in California with the energy scam. If black outs are eminent, it would only be logical to expect the population to be rushing to prepare for the event. But they are not. Local classifieds are full of Y2k electric generators the owners are still trying to unload. There is no shortage. Jay Leno brings on his political favorite, Gray Davis and makes a big joke of the issue performing an entire show by flashlight. Barbara Streisand tells the public to hang laundry on clothes lines. But I don't see her hiking down to the beach from her Malibu mansion to beat her thousand dollar gowns on the rocks. The last time I had a drier break down and tried clothes lines myself, everything came out stiff as a board. I doubt if she wants the same results.

Since the news media likes a fight, the press only reports on the fighting between ignorant Bush and criminal Davis. No one, not even the conservative press is offering any answers. The grid only exists due to a criminal monopolistic power grab between big money bankers in the late 1800's and the conspiring politicians of the time. The Rural Electrification Act in the 30's was even more social engineering from Roosevelt to get the entire population enslaved to a single power master. I am still in amazement how the public thinks the problem will correct itself. Few realize the "green" power alternatives I occasionally hear promoted have drawbacks. Adding
solar to one's home, raises your property taxes. You may be able to reduce your own consumption from the grid with solar or wind, but if you are fortunate enough to generate more than you need, you sell it to the grid at wholesale, while you pay retail for every watt you take. The spread varies from one locale to the next.

Numerous technologies exist to generate electricity. I have mentioned some in past columns and will bring others to light as I learn of them. As I write this column, we have had 4 consecutive days of 100+ degree heat in Southern California but no blackouts. If politicians could spin generators as well as they spin their lies, we would have more electricity than we need.
