The Dot Com Backpedal

Flash: Global Warming Caused By Liberal Hot Air
Banner revenue is down. The dot com obituary list keeps expanding. And even the good guys
are trying to keep their heads above water in this Clinton hot air economy. AllAdvantage
now admits that current ad revenue could only afford to pay their viewers $3.00 per YEAR,
far short of the $.50 per hour originally promised in their business model. RadioFreeCash
continues to stack up the IOU's to all of us for the music CD's we were earning by
listening to their choppy music on our 56k dial up modems.
I never had much hope for AllAdvantage since they promised wages based on
"projected" revenue, where my favorite company "BePaid" promised wages
based on "actual" revenue. I have gotten many complaints about signing up with
BePaid only to earn a few cents over a month's time. Viewers should remember they pay the
$20+ per hour based on the ACTUAL time you spend watching the ads. It's NOT their fault
that few advertisers have realized the value of their service yet. The few who HAVE tried
it report phenomenal results.
We have to express some sadistic pleasure in seeing the "not so good guys"
experiencing trouble in the deflating economy. Lucent Technologies stock is trading for
about 25% of what it traded for at the start of the year. Lucent has the strange
characteristic of using an occultic symbol of a snake swallowing its tail for a logo and
naming various divisions after variations on the theme of Hell. Although Lucent is based
on the root word "luc" for "light," to correlate with fiber optic
technology, it also sounds similar to Lucifer who "appears as an angel of
light." Despite my theological objections with the company's philosophies, they are a
major blue chip, large capital company, and their demise would have a major effect on both
mutual funds and pensions throughout the country. I also must admit that LateNiteLeroy
himself e-mails these columns to the editor of WebToday with a Lucent Technologies modem,
so not everything they make is demon possessed.
So what hope is there for Internet based business? Broadband is around the corner for most
everyone. I had the pleasure over Thanksgiving of playing with my nephew's cable modem.
Wow. Streaming video is almost as good as VHS videotape. So hang in there. The quality and
motion that TV held a monopoly on for so long is about to be challenged by the interACTIVE
media of the Internet. Just remember, we vote with our dollars. Even though some products
like modems and operating systems are only MADE by a select few, you still have the option
of choosing the retailer to buy them from. So bookmark the 888Webtoday technology mall now
and get all your system upgrades there. That will continue the conservative and truthful
perspective on the news that the old mainstream media never offered.
