Infomercial Graveyard

Have you ever wondered what happens to those nifty products you've seen over the years
promoted in "be one of the next 30 callers and get ..." 30 minute infomercials?
They all land on the Internet of course. Many a great item has slipped us by when we were
too busy or too lazy to jump to the phone and dial the 800 number.
I have a link at Commutefaster to one large "catch all" site that stocks a lot
of what we have seen on TV. But the products they don't carry are usually located with a
good search engine like GoTo.com. The pleasant surprise is to find the product even
cheaper on the Internet. Often the incentive giveaways are missing though.
So we are now faced with the dilemma of whether to dive for the phone and get the new item
immediately or try to find it later on the 'net. I've gotten into the habit of checking
the Internet first. I'm sure sometimes a product will completely disappear, but more often
than not, some discounter will grab the unsold inventory from the original promoter and
offer it later.
The one important thing we must remember to do is write down the correct spelling as soon
as the product gets your attention the first time. Marketers go to great lengths to come
up with names we will remember, but they don't always succeed. A seemingly clever twist in
the logical spelling can reek havoc when an all too literal computer tries to find it for
you.
