More Freebies

Although I still can't find a totally free lunch, the Internet still yields more and more give aways. The intent is always the same, while you are at their site, you will be exposed to other items or services for sale. Nevertheless, the waterfall of no obligation freebies continues.
Rather than describe specifics, I'll just get lazy in this column and mention a couple of huge lists so you can browse on your own.
Income City at: http://www.incomecity.com/sweeps.html?clicktrade=MC0143
Free.com at: http://www.free.com/
Freesite.com at http://www.thefreesite.com/
At my commercial site I also list several ongoing sweepstakes. The only problem I will acknowledge about frequent sweepstakes entry, is your personal data has a way of being sold to other merchants and sometimes yielding a dinnertime phone call, but not with the winning news you expected. So entrant, beware. Don't enter your main e-mail address. And if you have a separate phone line for the computer, list that one and let the voice mail intercept the good news call so you can screen out all the sales calls. I don't know why any industry uses invasive telemarketing. I never bought anything from them and I don't know many who have. But I'm a sucker for a good website.
And to the good friend who picked up the tab the last time we had lunch, my opening remark is only qualified by the fact that it cost me $20 in gas to meet him at that restaurant. It was still appreciated though.
