One of the most perplexing questions a Christian of my age (52 year old baby boomer) asked his parents was "why didn't the church in Germany stop Adolph Hitler?"  If you did ask your otherwise well meaning Christian parents, you probably got a somewhat bigoted answer implying gross stupidity of the German race as a whole rather than confront the question directly, regarding the CHURCH, NOT the German race.

Erwin Lutzer's lineage was from Germany.  He asked the same question, then did extensive research to give the most profound answers I have seen anywhere.

Most documentaries on Hitler portray him as a crazy lunatic, who perhaps like a wild comedian could get masses excited about nothing.  Sadly, Hitler was one of the most devious politicians in the history of mankind.  Using every satanic lie he could find, he persisted in swaying the minds of otherwise good people throughout the country.

• He repeated a lie so often, people started to believe them
• He made "religious" people think it was their responsibility to their god to follow whatever the government required of them, frequently quoting Romans 13:1,2 to Christians, but seldom quoting any other scripture
• He appealed to Hindus by not eating meat, and not having intercourse with women
• His utter distaste for the Jews matched the teachings of the Koran
• He believed occultic myths such as the claim that a spear in the Hofburg Library in Vienna was the spear that pierced Christ's side and that possession of it would give him supernatural powers
• He appealed to the pride of "non-religious" people, by giving them the god of Germany to worship
• He grasped Darwin's "survival of the fittest" doctrine and claimed he had a right to be as cruel as nature to weed out the "unfit"
• He appealed to the pocket books of the working class by stimulating the economy
• He appealed to the hidden power appetites of wealthy elite from around the world and obtained financing from international bankers and corporate power mongers in Europe and the United States
• He took the facade of religiosity and filled it with his own evil intentions by creating his own national religion
• He declassified a segment of humanity and labeled them non-human to focus hatred and blame for any and all of life's' problems
• He followed the writings of an American author, Margaret Sanger to dehumanize infants in the womb and thus led to Nazi experimentation on human embryos
• He cloaked himself with a few characteristics of righteous people: he would be seen feeding squirrels and birds in public, and signed legislation to protect animals
• He capitalized on the ignorance of young Christians who saw nothing wrong with blending in philosophies of other beliefs, personally studying yoga, hypnotism, astrology, and many different occults

Using the old "divide and conquer" formula, he first divided the church by pulling liberals with no foundation away to his new "Positive Christianity", then by legislation, forced all the churches to swear allegiance to him.  He followed by arresting and imprisoning all who would not sign his forced allegiance doctrine.

In November 1938 Hitler's Goebbels launched the "Crystal Night" attack which burned 177 synagogues and arrested some 20,000 Jews.  This took place while 95% of the German population were members of either the Catholic or Protestant church

In May, 1936 the last remnants of the believing Christian church sent a letter to Adolph Hitler asking what right he had to de-Christianize the German church?  Hitler's response was to send the Gestapo on a rampage which rounded up the pastors of the "Confessing Church", many to later die in concentration camps.

In September, 2003 here in the United States, the IRS was asked why they won't explain what specific laws justify their actions of confiscating property which sends many into destitute poverty, despair and even suicide, or what right they have to collect any revenue in the first place?  The cold hearted response was that they will respond to that question by "enforcement."  Enforcement of what?  They were asked what basis they had for lawfully doing what they do?  They would not answer.  They only further threatened to continue "enforcement" of rules that have no basis in constitutional law.

Our president claims Islam is a religion of peace, yet the Koran promotes violence against Christians and Jews.

John Ashcroft claims to be a Christian, yet promotes all the "Patriot Acts" which have numerous parts quoted line for line from Adolph Hitler's legislation, removing all civil rights from everyone and giving dictatorial power to the government for sake of "national security."  Patriot act II allows for secret arrests, imprisonment and executions.  Where does that align with either our Declaration of Independence or our Constitution? Where does that align with any Christian values Mr. Ashcroft claims to have?

When Bill Clinton won his first election as attorney general of Arkansas, he celebrated by giving copies of Mein Kompf to all his election staff.  He told them Hitler was a masterful politician and said "we have a lot to learn from this guy."

How many American politicians claim one thing while campaigning, yet when confronted with a righteous decision in office, claim they won't let their "personal beliefs" affect the way they act in office.  Such a claim reveals what their true beliefs were in the first place.

Adolph Hitler was exposed to extensive teachings of the occult as a youth.  How many Christian American teenagers know the names and meanings behind their violent video games, yet have total ignorance of true scripture?  Does youthful exposure to such evil lead to anything years later?  Satan is the author of confusion.  Why confuse a youthful mind with options that have such diabolical consequences BEFORE they know ALL of God's truth?

The church in the United States, and every other country in the world has to decide for eternity, whether it will worship Jesus Christ or if it will allow ANY government official to substitute "national pride" as the ultimate moral guideline for day to day life. No country is a "Christian Nation."  Every individual must answer for their actions before the Lord.  The way we live out our lives day to day reveals just where our faith is really at.  Do we condone the lies of leaders without taking a stand for righteousness?  Do we hide behind truthful, yet distractionary doctrine to hide our own laziness and apathy?  Do we let Calvinism condone evil?  Do we let the eminent pending rapture excuse us for not having time to tackle any long term projects for the Lord?

Is the Lord coming again?  Yes.

Does God know the end from the beginning?  Yes.

Does God CAUSE all the evil in the world?  NO!  Evil is present only because some men and angels CHOOSE to do evil. Evil will prevail when the righteous CHOOSE to do nothing in opposition.  Never blame John Calvin for YOUR laziness to take a stand for righteousness.  If you WERE elect, you WOULD take a stand.

Scripture does teach us that when the master returns, we should be found DOING HIS WILL, not twiddling our thumbs waiting for him to do it for us.

Hitler's Cross defines true Christianity better than any extra-biblical book I've ever read and goes further to warn America what traps it has already fallen into.  Is there any hope for recovery?  Read the book and decide for yourself.  If you don't read it, you apparently don't care.  This is an extremely serious book and tackles the topic every citizen on the planet must answer.  Who is your God?
