ISRAEL REITERATES
WARNING TO SYRIA
Regional Conflict Feared

(WebToday, April 12, 2002)-- Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres on Thursday expressed Israel's concern that Syria has not taken its warnings about a potential regional conflict seriously, saying that continued rocket attacks by Hezbollah guerrillas into Israel from Syrian-dominated Lebanon could produce a conflict much bloodier and wider than the current fighting between Israel and Palestinians in the West Bank.
Those who follow Bible prophecy might also wish to add their own warnings, too. The utter destruction of Damascus is foretold:
"The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap." (Isa. 17: 1).
And further it is written:
"Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in trevail.
"How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
"Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.
"And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad." (Jer. 49: 24-27).
I wouldn't want to be the main mastermind of the evil against Israel which forces God to bring this judgment down upon Damascus, either. This ungodly man hears some troubling reports one night, and doesn't even live until morning. Getting back to the chapter of Isaiah quoted above, the Bible says of him:
"And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning his is not. This i s the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us." (Isa. 17: 14).
So, pleasant dreams, Saddam.
