By now, we have all seen the tape of Osama acknowledging his role in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

The tape makes it plain that Osama was involved in the planning which preceded the attack - and was overjoyed that it had succeeded beyond his expectations!

This is the sort of "smoking gun" evidence which the new age of electronic communications has made possible.

Would we have known there had been an attack on Rodney King, if some casual observer with his minicam, in hand, had not taped Rodney King's infamous confrontation with the Los Angeles Police Department?

Would Richard Millhouse Nixon have finished his second term as President of the United States; then retire with dignity and respect - had he not decided to tape all of his private conversations?

Osama has been "caught on tape" with his pants down - thanks to our revolution in the technology of communications.  You be the judge, does he really care that we found the tape?  The tape was obviously made, for the Taliban documentary archives, showing how Osama and his "warriors" took down the great United States of America!

Do you think he cares that we can use this tape as evidence against him in some future court of law?  Of course not!  He doesn't expect to go on trial -- he could care less if he escapes or is cornered and killed.  Either way, the admission contained on the tape would turn out be irrelevant.   He, unlike the unsuspecting suicide highjackers, is not going to die for his cause!  He shaved his beard, which is against his own law, he's dressing as a westerner, the very people he hates ...This same man, who swore to his god, Allah, to "fight to the death" is on the run.   I expect him to become blond and wear blue contacts next!  He's a bigger coward than Sadaam and associates!

It is clear that Osama does not mind that we knew of his involvement in the September 11th massacres! After all, he openly boasted of his willingness to resort to terrorism in the past, and has made no bones about the fact that he regards the United States as the great Satan and principle target of his all consuming hatred!

But the "mastermind" of the September 11th attacks, is still in hiding, and perhaps showing the tape only served to enhance his prestige among his fanatical followers.   With that in mind, maybe it was not wise for us to have even shown the tape in the first place - although, once the press got a hold of it, we may have felt that we had no choice.  I certainly don't think we could have been so stupid as to go through the trouble of fabricating a fake one.  I think the tape is authentic - and I bet that Osama enjoys having it transmitted around the world.

And those are my thoughts....................
