Notes, Quotes
and Observations, Part III
by Phil Dobson
(WebToday, February 9, 2002)-- Before I get into today's edition I'd like to clear up a misconception. My email address is dobson@madcrazy.com. The reason being is that the secular media thinks that I'm mad and crazy. So be it. I'll happily placate them. I don't care. The truth will set you free.
"Regime change is something the United States might have to do alone." Secretary of State Colin Powell speaking about ousting Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
A top aide to Vice President Richard Cheney said that the VP would travel to the Middle East in mid-March, stopping in Israel and four states bordering Iraq to discuss future steps in the war on global terrorism. Don't you think it's about time?
"I want to be the first kid to be implanted with the chip. I think it's one more step in the evolution of man and technology." 14 year old Derek Jacobs
As I reported last month, (Pass the Micro Chips Please) the "VeriChip" by Applied Digital Solutions is on a fast track to becoming implanted in humans. Not only does 14 year old Derek want it, but his parents have expressed a similar interest. What can we expect when our teens are piercing themselves in every conceivable way?
Voice of reason:
"Out of all the technologies with potential to be the mark of the beast, the VeriChip has got the best possibility right now. "It's definitely not the final product, but it's a step toward it. Within three to four years, people will be required to use it. Those that reject it will be put to death." Gary Wohlscheid, president of The Last Days Ministries. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
"Since we met last year, millions of Americans have been led to prayer. They have prayed for comfort in time of grief; for understanding in a time of anger; for protection in a time of uncertainty. Many, including me, have been on bended Knee." President George W. Bush in his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast.
I had tears in my eyes while reading this speech. What a President!
On the other side of the isle:
"The Republicans killed the economic stimulus bill today just as they attempted to kill it now for the last three weeks. They killed the opportunity to bring together a compromise that would have allowed us to go to conference." Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) Oh, so the Republicans killed the bill. And I thought that the Democrats were in charge of the Senate. Those darn Republicans.
``Today's children are tomorrow's entrepreneurs and innovators. That Internet usage is so prominent among them promises to bring vitality and growth to our economy.'' Commerce Secretary Don Evans
As AP reported this past week, "More than half of all Americans use the Internet, with more than 2 million people going online for the first time each month. And 9 out of 10 school-age children now have access to computers either at home or at school, according to a Commerce Department report released Tuesday." The porn industry is salivating.
"It's not an issue of whether the Koran should be available in the library, it's like any other research volume. But these interpretations are certainly in question." Jim Konantz, director of information technology for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Copies of "The Meaning of the Holy Quran" were donated in December to the Los Angeles Unified School District by a local Muslim foundation as a goodwill gesture in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and accepted without the usual content review. After reviewing the book, Konantz instructed principals to secure all copies in their offices until the district determines what to do with them.
Khaled Abou El Fadl, a UCLA Islamic law professor, said the book, a 1934 translation of the Koran, reflects the stereotypical images prevalent at the time-not only about Jews but also women.
Why the uproar? Konantz received a complaint from a history teacher who concluded some of the book's footnotes were anti-Semitic. A Quote from the book: "The Jews in their arrogance claimed that all wisdom and all knowledge of Allah was enclosed in their hearts. But there were more things in heaven and earth than were dreamt of in their philosophy. Their claim was not only arrogance but blasphemy." What's the big deal? Our schools can't teach our kids to read anyway.
More on the "Axis of Evil":
North Korea has ended their silence and has said that the U.S. is the "empire of the devil". Oh yeah, well your mother wears army boots, and you can quote me on that!
