Jerusalem Update #9

Greetings from Jerusalem!
This week we gave help, which was sent to JMI for Christian Arab families, with a family that we had not before in Beit Jala and the gratitude was deeply expressed and heart felt. The persecution and financial situations continue to worsen for the Christian Arabs.
Pressures and influences are changing rapidly for Israel due to the attacks against New York.
We see the news, daily; telling of the preparations for US planned reprisals in
the Middle East. At first the target was reported to be Afghanistan and Bin
Laden but then, as most of you may be aware, the evidences began to be said to
be leading to Iraq. Of course the "Arab" world has tried to place the
greatest measure, or all of the blame on Israel for the destruction of the
towers when actually it was reported in the London Daily Telegraph newspaper
that the Israeli Mossad warned the US last month that there were indications of
a major terrorist act planned for the American mainland involving as many as 200
terrorist and the links were to Osama Bin Laden and Iraq. This all then equates,
bottom line to the fact that if Iraq is included in reprisal attacks by the USA
then Iraq and others will do all they can to attempt all out attack against
Israel. This last week in Israel, many, a reported 10,000, have been upgrading
gas masks in preparation. It has been reported a good number of times over the
last year how Iraq has again increased its chemical warfare abilities. We have
been asked if we have heard anything about Iraqi troops, as many as 18,000, who
have already started across Jordan in order to reach Israel. We have no
conformation for this. If it were true there should be leaks from Jordan's news
and etc. The problem for Iraq sending large numbers of troops across Jordan is
it would give Israel almost a day’s warning (it takes 16 hours of normal
driving time to cross Jordan), which is more than enough time for defensive
action to be taken!
This week has turned on itself by first no indications of Arafat ordering a cease-fire and then a seeming cease-fire. Prime Minister Sharon called for a 48 hour "quiet time" before Peres would be allowed to meet with Arafat and then a declaration occurred that there would be no meeting with the evidences of continued attacks. Arafat's organizations declared they would not stop the attacks until ALL of "Palestine" was "liberated from occupation". (All means not only 1967 borders but also 1948, i.e. no Israel.) Mortars and firebombs continuing to be fired into Israel this week from Gaza seemed to underline the statements. Personal understanding on God's promises (Jeremiah 31:10-40 and etc.) concerning Israel is becoming a most critical point concerning personal positions in Spiritual Biblical Values? We think so.
It is reported that Arab leaders have stated that if Israel were included in the world coalition against terrorism, being created currently by the USA, then no Arab nation would participate. We see this as similar to the time of the Gulf War in 1991 when Israel was excluded from being directly involved in the war. It is our understanding that the Gulf War occurred in order to "deal with Israel", forcibly or peaceably, by giving up of land from Israel, creating a national Palestinian homeland. (But again keep in mind that in 1948 up into the 1960's the Jewish people were called Palestinian's!) The "Peaceable negotiations" have not worked between the Arab Palestinians and Israel, which would force a giving up of the Golan to Syria, promoting an Arab oil pipeline to the coast of Lebanon, so it is not a surprise that from last weeks terrorists acts in New York the threats are again increased against the existence of Israel. This is really the objective in helping to increase the "one world new order"? We think so!
This next Wednesday evening, September 26th, begins the most holy day of all
Judaism. It is the day of "Atonement" commanded in the 16th Chapter of
Leviticus. Will there be a repeat of an attack against Israel as happened in
1973? Certainly God has an absolute time line (as Paul stated in the book of
Acts; "God has the boundaries of the nations set and time already
determined") and this coming war, whenever it does happen, will begin the
road for other major prophetic events during the coming years. Remember, Christ
does not come physically until the end of Daniel's 70th week, which means His
coming and "judgment" is currently more than seven years away.
