The Democrats are Desperate

The focus of the press, and therefore the attention of the American people, is the war on terrorism and the pursuit of Osama bin Laden and other terrorist leaders. Support for the effort is high, and Democrats see this as a threat to their success in the next elections.
A recent Newsweek article by Howard Fineman was quite insightful.
"Democrats are planning a daring assault on the most critical turf in politics: the cultural mainstream. The theory goes like this. Our enemy in Afghanistan is religious extremism and intolerance. It's therefore more important than ever to honor the ideals of tolerance--religious, sexual, racial, reproductive--at home. The GOP is out of the mainstream, some Democrats will argue next year, because it's too dependent upon an intolerant 'religious right.' This is an incendiary battle plan--essentially comparing the GOP right with the Taliban--designed to draw an outraged response from the president. Then Democrats would have Bush just where they wanted him: in a fire fight at home," reports Fineman.
The Democrats are experts at demonizing their enemies to make themselves look good, or at least better.
It is the Democrats, not the Republicans, who are similar to the Taliban in many ways. Don't make the mistake of thinking I am calling ALL Democrats evil. I am not. The evil ones are the national leaders and the spin doctors hired to manipulate and control public thinking.
The leaders set the path and the rest follow, often blindly. Making good look evil and evil appear to be good is one of their very best skills.
Liberal Democrats have always attacked the religious right, conservatives, and Republicans in general with lies and half-truths in an effort to paint a picture of people to be feared. What Fineman is really telling us is that we can expect more of that tactic used now in an effort to demonize every Republican, including Bush.
Will the public believe such trash?
If the past is any indicator of the future there is no reason to expect them to be wise enough to believe anything else. How sad.
