Don't under estimate bin Laden
This time take him seriously

12/31/2001 888WebToday.com   By David M. Bresnahan

In September 1998 bin Laden told his followers to find a way to shut down all U.S. banking, air traffic, and maritime traffic. In September 2001 he achieved his goal.

Now he warns that his ultimate goal is the total financial collapse of the U.S. - whether he lives or dies. Believe him.

When I reported his plans in 1998, Terrorism, More To Come , I was laughed at by the FBI and critics of my work. I was told, "He's a fanatic Islamic extremist with a big mouth."

September 11, 2001 proved that bin Laden must be taken seriously. He has thousands of trained terrorists and millions of dollars to fund their operations.

In a videotape released by Qatar's al-Jazeera television station on Thursday, he urged Muslims to wage "military and economic" jihad or holy war against the U.S., which he called "fragile."

"We say that the end of the United States is imminent, whether bin Laden or his followers are alive or dead, for the awakening of the Muslim umma (nation) has occurred," he said in the tape.

He said his priority is to destroy the U.S. economy.

Unfortunately bin Laden has already proven how easy that might be. Several simultaneous attacks similar in destruction of lives and property to September 11 would send shock waves not only through the U.S. but throughout the world. The setback to the economy could indeed be devastating.

Plans for the attack September 11 were under way for a very long time. Bin Laden certainly did not plan just one major attack and then decide to plan the rest on a day to day basis. He has been training thousands of terrorist for years, and now they are strategically placed throughout the world prepared to strike.

"Our terrorism against the United States is blessed," said bin Laden.

It is my hope and prayer that we all take this man very seriously, because he is deadly serious.
