The Torch Of Freedom

by Ricky Lee Jackson

www.FreedomFamilyandFaith.com

As I was thinking back today, reflecting on the challenges our nation has faced since the days of our founding, thinking of the revolution that freed us from the greatest military power of that day, thinking back also to the dark days of our Civil War, to the worldwide challenge of National Socialism in the early part of the last century, and then the challenge of an Iron Curtain backed by the iron fist of communism bent on world domination, it was clear that we Americans have faced many dark days in our history.

And at every turn, no matter the cost, we have persevered.

Today we face darkness once again, but this time the darkness is different––it’s from within. We have recently witnessed from our federal government the most profound disregard for the rule of law, the will of the people, basic honesty and integrity, and fiscal responsibility. And the primary function of the federal government to keep this nation’s sovereignty and security intact is being neglected and likely consciously degraded.

Yes, these days are dark, and there is reason to fear. But––there is no reason to despair. As our fathers and mothers before us pledge their all against terrible odds, for only the hope (with no guarantee) and the possibility of freedom, the hope of profound goodness, of a prosperity that might raise up the whole world––so today, we hope in the ultimate triumph of good.

Today, the “torch of freedom” is passed to us––to this “new generation of Americans” and to our children and grandchildren––if we teach them well. It’s “our turn now to fight the fight for liberty” to nourish the fragile flame of freedom with everything we have and everything we are.

Yes, the darkness––of dependency and dishonesty, of irresponsibility and of profligacy, the darkness of a disregard of the aims of evil arrayed against us––yes, this darkness does indeed threaten. But, deep inside we know and we believe, that Hope and Faith (a “faith that works”)––is stronger still!

So as I look back at what we have faced before, and how we Americans have believed and acted and persevered by hope and faith, we have a right to believe now, that when we have passed there will still be for our children, our posterity and for the world, a “Beacon of hope”. America, this blessed “shining city on a hill”, shall be shinning still!

We join the chorus who in prior times declared that we Americans will “bear any burden, pay any price”, to keep the flame of freedom burning bright! We will not despair, we will not give up, and “we shall overcome”!

God bless us all,

Ricky Lee Jackson (AKA: Rick the Doctor)

Here is what Fox News #1 Cable Morning News Program "Fox and Friends" had to say about him on air:

"He’s the new Joe the Plumber; now there's Rick the Doctor... Some have joined Tea Parties, stormed town halls, others like family practice physician and country recording artist Ricky Lee Jackson have taken to the microphone... he wants his country back." -- Fox and Friends / Fox News

BRIEF BIO: There is no one better suited to sing "Freedom Family and Faith" than Ricky Lee Jackson. Known affectionately in his community as the “singing doctor,” Ricky Lee has been a small business owner and family practice physician for over 25 years. This gives him keen insight into the dangers of socialized medicine and a deep passion for keeping America free and prosperous by proudly standing up for capitalism and individual liberty. Ricky Lee is also a family man, married over 30 years to his wife, Jeanine, and raising three children, with a growing list of grandchildren. When Ricky Lee Jackson sings about "Freedom Family and Faith" he knows what he's talking about, and he believes most Americans share his belief that what makes America great isn’t our government––it’s our freedom, our families, and our faith.
